Testing a NATO OPORD Schema with C - BML

چکیده
NATO MSG-085 was chartered to "Investigate approaches for the deployment of Coalition BML capabilities complementing existing operational C2 system exchange mechanisms." A recognized capability needed to achieve this is a functional NATO Operations Order (OPORD) for the Battle Management Language (BML). GMU has developed a schema for a NATO OPORD, based on our earlier work with an Army OPORD for Integrated BML (IBML) and, before that, the GeoBML OPORD that has been used in the Common Ground Joint Capability Technology Demonstration. The GMU NATO OPORD schema is available to MSG-085 as a basis for further development. This paper describes the resulting NATO OPORD schema and the associated script for the Scripted BML Web Server, including a description of the modifications necessary to conform to the new SISO C-BML Phase 1 Trial Use draft schema. It concludes with an extended design rationale and implementation details of the example order developed for testing, including consideration of the anticipated application by MSG-085.

The approach to defining a coalition Battle Management Language (BML) now being pursued by SISO requires mapping of BML into a JC3IEDM database, which is accessed via a Web service. In previous SIW papers we have reported on a new approach to implementing such a Web service, based on the notion of an interpreter module. This scripting engine takes as its input the schema of the Web service and ...

The Coalition Battle Management Language (C-BML) as currently implemented requires that interoperating Command and Control (C2) and Simulation systems implement an interface to a Web service, using a clearly defined schema, to propagate Orders and Reports to participating systems. Continuing progress of C-BML, both in NATO MSG-085 and in the SISO standards process, has produced a situation wher...

The NATO Modeling and Simulation Group Technical Activity 48 (MSG-048) operated from 2006 to 2009, investigating the potential of a Command and Control (C2) Battle Management Language (BML) for Multinational and NATO C2-simulation interoperation. To achieve this, MSG-048 used an interface specification developed under US Army support called Integrated BML, enhanced to meet coalition needs. Demo...

The Joint Battle Management Language (JBML) is being developed as an unambiguous language for tasking and reporting. This paper summarizes significant US national contributions to the current SISO Coalition Battle Management Language (C-BML) Product Development Group activities. It focuses on application of the wellknown principles of BML in the joint warfighting context to enable command and c...
